Are there an online programming resources that don't suck? I'm using codeacademy and it's really annoying having the website beg me to pay for a subscription. At this rate, I may as well just start buying books. I'm learning but I feel like I'm stagnant too. Out of all the tech subjects I know, programming is the one area I'm severely lacking in.

The last time I've done anything remotely related to coding was back in my Uni years where I took 1 course in C , later C++ (unrelated to my major but required) and mostly Mathlab (which absolutely sucked and I only used it my Freshman year because that was our "Introduction to Computer and Electrical Engineering Course". In a sense, it was their way of purging students.
