what i really like about the song “there is no food” by have a nice life is how well it embodies the desperation of slowly succumbing to something. those “RNNUUUUUUUUUUUU” guitar sounds (which the song was originally named after) could be hunger pangs (in the context of its title), they could be the last peaks on a flatlining heart monitor, they could be a fading mind’s futile attempts to remain lucid.

it is the numbness of knowing demise is inevitable versus the instinctive clawing desperation to live. it is it is the quietness of the safe house interrupted by the rhythmic sounds of the jackboot and the rifle, just outside the door.
