If something breaks with Windows, it's probably Microsoft's fault, but if something breaks with Linux, it's probably your fault. (with reverence from a fellow Linux user)

What Distro are you installing? (massive linuxhead here, mainly curious). Also yeah, installing it for the first time is pretty hard to wrap your head around but for me and the people ive introduced it to its been very worth it.

@bondioli oh i'm aware :( it's not that anything is broken (yet), i just can't figure out how to do things i wanna dooo. @krongulus i'm on linux mint! i've got it installed but i'm really struggling getting everything back to what i had before with windows! well, actually some things were really easy.. easy things are like 10x harder than i thought it'd be.

My main advice would be to check out if what you're missing is on Flatpak- it has a lot of windows software there (even stuff like Edge) and is distro-agnostic (works anywhere). Unfortunately, some stuff like Fl Studio and Adobe are very very tough to get working- and at that point i do suggest looking into FOSS alternatives. (Not to be a foss evangelistic but there are absolute gems out there).

Besides that- I love mint and i think thats a great choice, its one of my personal favorites. I hope you have a good time with it!

@krongulus thank you for the tips ;o ; i'm trying to get a spout2 alternative for obs.. & it's just completely not working for me. i got the alternative proton install on lutris.. but the wrapper? command prefix? just errors out at a random line in the code. not sure why i'm the only person this has happened to??? ughs. i can't have a transparent background any other way.
