hi! there's a part in your overview that says the recipe was originally made from 12 tomatoes which I have to imagine is a mistype lol. i really wanna make this though

I love your new zine! I really appreciate the emphasis on looking forward and not getting mired in nostalgia. too many times, I've seen people commenting far-right dogwhistles like "this is what they took from us" on stylized frutiger aero images from/inspired by the early 2000s with apparently no self-awareness. it's good to read about actively building the future we want :]

thanks for reading :) i agree, it's very easy to fall into an endless cycle of nostalgia especially on the small web—it's hard but we have to actively fight against that impulse!

no wayy i also had plans to make a food in media page! taking notes for my watchlist hehe :D there's a great breakfast scene in Moonstruck if you haven't seen it :)
@altalenae yaaay looking forward to that page! and yes i love the chaotic breakfast table scene in moonstruck…i also remember nic cage aggressively eating a steak. lots to be said about how a lot of food movies are about immigrants and immigrant families 💭

I just watched Moonstruck and was in the middle of blogging about that bananas scene (and the bizarre writing for Nicholas Cage's character) lol
First Cow had some truly delicious simple looking food in it AND I'll forever think of it as the movie my wife chose as a calm relaxing movie that turned out to be a tragedy 😔
