@music-by-margaruine Wildfire smoke! A bunch of pine trees that have been drying for years caught fire from a lightning strike. If there isn’t lots of rain, it’ll burn until it snows

Man, the worst I've been in is about ~580 (BC, Canada.) Awful thing to experience. In this day and age, I have to recommend blowing some cash on a high end air purifier. I went with a Coway airmega and holy smokes is it powerful. It's pretty overkill for the space I have, so I essentially have fresh cycled air every minute and a half. When it kicks into overdrive you feel a pressure change in the house lol

I recommend everyone in wildfire-affected areas, or heavily polluted industrial zones invest in at least one HEPA Air Purifier. If funds are low, or you are feeling DIY, you can also build a Corsi-Rosenthal style box :-]
