Sorry to post neocities drama in the feed, but this is honestly pissing me off. I hate AI art of course, but really? Following people just to get views and spread rumors about someone is childish. Posing very flimsy "evidence" for an artist who has 100 followers, really? Get a hobby.

and even if they ARE using ai, who cares? the cat is out of the bag. people are going to use it. pushing back on data centers and demanding regulation around it is an action that has more likelihood of actually accomplishing something.

to be honest, for some people who are trying to make their own webpage including me, I think using AI for help ONLY is alright, if it means studying and code notes or help. I am not FULLY against AI, just a reminder. But if it means AI for Art and Drawing, that's where I cross the line. Besides the AI conversation, I added you on my Links Section, Solaria.

i think whoever made that site is potentially the same person who made another "callout" site for a user. idk who they are but it ended up on my feed somehow. very reminiscent of the twitter call out threads and such... but isn't the whole point of this to leave the toxicity of social media behind? nonetheless i agree, the witch hunts are not helpful. there is a lot of that happening with fanfic as well. If you can't go to a meeting, call your officials. You can even use scripts if you don't know what to say. 5calls is good for this. Itll also help you find your office numbers too.

@worldwideshen I made that example because that is a very significant thing you can do to pushback on AI, and at least in my broad area, there Are town halls happening right now over data centers. Really my point is to do to something useful, not create a toxic call out culture on neocities. This kind of behavior doesn't help anyone. Us canabalizing ourselves with petty accusations doesn't do any good.

You used to be able to get pre-made web templates and html and css generators that would help you to structure a site if you didn't have the knowledge on how to code, and there were programs like Netscape Composer and Microsoft Front Page that would help you design a website, but they are (mostly) gone, or don't show up in search engines anymore when you search. I wouldn't use AI to design a page because the result

incomprehensible and looks the same as every other AI generated page.

I am not plugged into this but you are so real for this one. To add to this thread here, I am pleasantly surprised by the neutrality towards the tech itself and the anger going at the corporations instead. I find AIs best for handling premade human code, getting help for said code and generally using it as a learning tool. It won't get rid of the stigma, but it can be dandy to learn new stuff with.
