One reason I like photography is that it forces me to intently stare at something through the viewfinder, searing a memory into my mind, then months later once I develop the film, what I have in front of me looks completely different from my memory. Instead of "transforming memory" like you describe your essays, the present is transformed into something parallel to memory that I can only truly see in the future.
