this just feels like shaming for ppl who use references/models. who tf would even disclose they use them. they can’t even enforce this LOL

I thought it meant no tracing, not no reference? You’re right tho. How can you even accuse someone of tracing? What if someone is just really good at referencing lol But did you also see the rule about no collaging? Sorry to add to the rage haha

this kinda makes me want a deliberately bad version of artfight where everyone *must* draw the thing as best as they can from memory just as a reducto ad absurdum

i mean even w/tracing, its like ... i took a picture of my hand to help with a weird angle and traced it --> redrew it to my own style .... i gotta disclose my own dang picture and not use it for an attack??? and no collaging?????? wait is that for like ... refs????????????

I think with collaging they meant literal collages, so like, in my head, an example could be a drawing of a character inside a cutout photograph of a car. and other elements cut out of stock photos. Also to be clear I do agree that tracing/referencing should be allowed 100%! As long as they are using non-copyrighted refs/their own refs. I bet they’ll rewrite the rules bc of all the backlash.

if this rule is still in set for when arfight actually begins, no one is stopping you from still doing it and just not telling anyone and i think a lot of people are going to do this

YEAH!! :< I left feedback on their feedback form on BSky and told them that "randomly" cutting out certain reference types sucks and what am I gonna do if I can't find stockphotos/etc for an artfight attack? Do it but feel bad at the quality? Just not do the attack at all? I'd rather we disclose what refs we use to promote using them and sharing our reference sources

tbf from what i understand this rule has been in place for a while, i havent really looked over the regulations since i first joined like 6 years ago. and wattaheck that sucks for collages, i think that'd be really cool :(, thats still work to arrange it!!! but yeah considering ive only heard abt it until now, im sure ppl have just been doing it

Yeah from my understanding the wording just made it more clear? Honestly I'd probably just use whatever refs I use normally would use and whatever it'll be, it'll be. Just in the feedback I put it like that cause that's just how silly it'd be to actually follow that

fluxer feels like a discord clone and acts like a clone, so to me it is the easiest transition. it does not have mobile though, you can "make an app" via online browser

i've been liking fluxer but it's def better on desktop and is very much still being worked on and there are bugs. it was a v easy transition from disc tho, and has a lot of the features

thank u all... fluxer im only squinty on bc i know the creator has talked abt using LLMs for 'rubber ducking', like from sounds of it he is a very smart guy and knows coding in and out and what hes talking abt, its just always such a razor thin line if its someone who genuinely is doubling checking what IS put out of it

Stoat is the one I went to about a year ago and have enjoyed it, but I don't use screenshare. The VC was fine when I used it last...Decemeber? It was about as good as Discord's, but I also don't use VC too much so ymmv. Screenshare is the next big milestone for Stoat, whenever they have the resources to tackle it

that is always the question when dealing with colors not in the rainbow...... i personally would do brown before red, like how you have it (even though brown is technially dark orange) that way it wont break up red from orange. the hardest thing for me when organizing things by color is when they vary a lot in value as well as hue, because of course i want to keep it in hue order, but i dont want dark next to light

yeah its a mess, and im very bad w/differentiating like ... what the 'central' colour is to assign it a main colour too. cause like something thats 90% black but has a very vibrant red text to me is Red, not Black. but something with a primary black, but has a more muted blue/yellow, to me is Black, and not those colours (kinda also why im doing a misc where its way too many colours to make one the Central Choice)

i usually go warm pink - [regular roygbiv] - cool pink - white - grey - black - brown when i organize art supplies! its definitely a soft science, very difficult to categorize firmly

hoh ... that makes sense w/the transition of warm pink to reds and purple --> cool pinks .. i think brown is def my big issue in placement rn cause my brain is thrown off by brown to red to orange

I tend to do rainbow order with pink / magenta before purple, then black -> grey -> white -> brown. I think that's because I'm used to crayon boxes being laid out like that.

Since brown is a desaturated orange, I think it can pair ok with black and white, since adding those to colours make them less saturated 🤔

This is how my brain works, and how I organize my paints: pink/magenta -> roygbiv -> warm browns/ochres -> cooler browns/ochres -> black, white.

Oh I think understand what you mean. I gave up on mine bc no matter what they always had the feeling of like, an misaligned square on a tiled floor if that makes sense. No one else cared but it made me feel upset for no good reason.

yea ... to some degree ... the raw html coding for my oc pages is very messy at this point, and having that Public makes my brain feel like AUGH FUCKKK ITS MESSY meanwhile ppl just see a pretty page LOOOL
