Hey, I saw your post on Relativism and I thought you'd enjoy the *The Abolition of Man* by C.S Lewis. Your idea of Truth sounds similar to what Lewis calls the Tao or the Logos in the book.

amazing refresh pull hehe I also sometimes forget how "alien" my setup must look to others. I remember how impressed my mom was when she asked me to format a document and I just used standard unix commands to do it lol (mom: "I have no idea what you did or how you did that but thank you")

Oh wow I had no idea my nerdy ramblings would receive positive attention. That makes me happy! Maybe I should've flexed harder? :P I totally relate to your story with mom haha, but I think a computer with a full screen terminal window makes you more intimidating than boring. I bet they're worried about you hacking them.

Thanks for adding my button! I can relate to having one too many ideas/plans for what to do. I've always found it most rewarding to just take them one by one. Reminds me of something my HS literature teacher would often say: We don't find time to do what we like, we make our own time.

just read it! this idea of causality somewhat reminds me of 'telos (τελος)' in Greek Stoicism. Luke Smith touches a bit on that idea in one of his older podcasts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktNWD8XyCeo (around 5 minutes in)
@vihmu Yes! Brilliant observation!! Aristotelian metaphysics has different "types" of causes: material, efficient, formal, and final. The final cause is also known as telos. Modern notion of causation usually refers to the efficient cause so that's what I focused on. Efficient causes are inseparable from telos because it involves actualizing a potency, but a potency is always "pointing" towards something.
I love this topic. I agree that constant conjunction is not the same as causality, and that inductive reasoning cannot establish certainty. Great post! :)
