A24 is stealing the SCP foundation from it's creators, sources say that they have lawyers working on breaking the Creative Commons license in court to permanently shut down the Wiki to make way for their SCP film series without having to pay anyone or release the works for free like the CCL requires. SCP first then AO3, it won't be long until your Supernatural fic makes it to the screen and you get nothing.

A24 really fell from grace
I just looked into this, while "A24 is stealing the SCP foundation from it's creators" is a massive misrepresentation of the issue, it is indeed an issue. Basically, the creative commons license allows for an adaption, but would allow anyone to upload the movie to youtube for free, or for streamers to redistribute it for free. A24 did make it clear that they do not own SCP, and that the film is, in their words, a
(cont) tribute to SCP lore, BUT they have skirted around the fact that they legally would have to follow the copyright law of the CCL, which doesn't have quite the implications stated here, but does have MAJOR concerns for setting a precedent of companies not obeying the CCL, which is a concern. Let's hope to fucking god they comply.
It is worth noting that as it stands, copyright doesn't protect fanfiction, really in any way at all, to the best of my knowledge
But, yeah, anyway, you're right that this is north worrying in terms of how it'll effect copyright law, and is just a shame
