i cant believe i have to say this but please dont go after people who steal from me. it isnt fixing anything. yes, it is extremely disheartening to me that people steal and copy my stuff, but it also doesnt matter that much. its not worth arguing over.

im being serious. i dont know if i can handle this. i joined here to escape social media and now theyre all moving here, not even out of respect for html as an art form, they dont give a shit about us who actually bother to code our websites and not use a generator. they dont respect us. so i wont respect them.

On the good side though, they'd probably abandon their sites/leave real fast if they don't really care to update their site, as it's all manual labor. Hopefully this is a fad that'll pass (idk too much about this situation specifically but I can imagine what youre talking about. does sound really sucky)

They'll get tired of the non-instant gratification if I had to predict anything. Caard is too simple to be a quickly exchanged for a site of their own. But yeah, I revived my learning of HTML and CSS cause of Twitter users, I hope they don't actually mass flight here and go to TikTok or something instead

Personally my blog aesthetic is quite literally only how it is because I did not know ANY HTML at all.
Really nice read, and honestly I believe stealing incidents happen often bc people want to jump straight to the part where your site is all “aesthetic” and “neat” w/o any prior HTML knowledge even though it’s a solid fact that constructing a whole website from scratch takes time and effort, they’re afraid of starting w/ a site that is weaker in technical aspects or, more bluntly, looks like shit TO THEM
Neocities or personal website making platforms in general are being reduced to a visual nostalgia tool and become “for the y2k kid core aesthetic” or whatever but these kinds of users seem to miss the most important parts in this nostalgia: Originality and crafting your site with LOVE. We’re sadly the users of an Internet way too focused on looks and can’t appreciate authenticity enough.
You could look back at the steps you make while developing your site one day and remember all the improvements you made or you can brag about how cool your web corner has looked from the start when you haven’t opened your online HTML course tab and are left not knowing what a p tag is. I usually dislike gatekeeping but I’m willing to do it with fake people who refuse to make progress.
