Woo hoo! I added TLS encrypted connections to Go Gopher, and updated the post. Some programmers working on gopher clients went ahead and started supporting certificates and encryption even thought it's not part of the spec. I followed suit. Yay!
It freaks me out putting something into the world that only uses cleat text. I mean, it could have harmed someone. I fixed that.
Yeah, so I wrote a Gopher server last weekend to learn Go. Here is what I learned:
1. Gopher is more popular than I thought.
2. Gopher sucks and no one should use it for anything at all ever.
3. I'm using it.
4. It's completely pointless to use it. HTTP can do everything Gopher can, and much more.
5. That's why people use Gopher, including me.
It's weird. Read the post if you care, which you shoudn't. I wouldn't.

My gopher server has more than 700 pulls from the Docker hub in less than a week. People running gopher servers are animals. I don't trust them.

Wtf? Docker is reporting 988 pulls. No way. I don't trust this number. Docker is full of LIES. I would expect, like, 3. There must be some automated thing that just scoops up all the images. https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/dbppgpmdtacr/gogopher/general
