Thanks for the follow! I'm very thankful to see there's a workaround to the PHCode AI bullshit but at the same time don't want to give them the joy of them seeing that I'm downloading the install again.
Also, your mixtape collection is so cool! Love the art and the care put into physical media. That page gives me the yearning to finally put the Mix CDs I've done up on my page as well.

I actually updated the mixed tapes page not all that long ago haha You should make one for your CDs, it's cool seeing how other people approach making/designing them UGH yeah GOD I'm so pissed about phcode that I actually submitted feedback to them about it. Not hopeful though

Just passing by, I'd never heard of PHCode, just checking it out now. I've been using VSCode. (Aside from annoying AI features) is it a decent web dev editor?

PHCode has a built-in live preview of your code that updates while you work (instead of when you hit save/refresh) and it's SUPER convenient. Other than that, VSCode/Codium are basically the same thing but better in most ways. I like it but I have a hard time recommending it after the AI update, on top of the other bugs/performance issues PHCode has

Ah thanks for explaining :) I believe there is a Live Preview plugin for VSCode that will auto reload the webpage each time you save too. You may be able to recreate the experience through that..

I'm on VSCodium and use the live preview and I do like it a lot. I think there is some ease of use that it is missing compared to PH Code. Namely, the ability to on-the-foy select a major browser to preview in, which requires some extra steps in VSCodium unless I'm missing something. Still, VSCodium not being laden with AI means I'll take any inconvenience preferentially.

Actually nevermind, the theme toggle works now. It turned out it was only broken because the blog CSS was using the old theme toggler variable name and not the new one, so changing it instantly fixed it lmao

Fixed the broken graphics on the sitemap recode. That was a real pain for some reason. Everything kept wanting to squirt out of the container!!

Big huge massive update. New short story translation from the GGST art book by Kaialone and two (2!) Chinese Heliogenoms doujinshi translations by Bento. Lots of random bug/styling fixes too. I kept a log of which pages I updated but if anything's broken even after a good CTRL+shift, please let me know lol

For anyone else that likes Phoenix Code, hates the AI update, and has a problem with the phcode.json "breaking" after editing it: Download the ver. 5.0.5 off the Github, install it with your internet off, then open the defaultPreferences.json in Notepad and edit the "autoUpdate" to be "false". It automatically downloads/installs the AI update without asking/telling you about it otherwise lol

I've tried so many other editors the past few days and none of them have a live preview as slick as phcode's and I'm really, really, really, upset about the AI update. I sent (polite) feedback about it and I generally don't send feedback about anything ever

Nevermind. The preferences file is a lie and doesn't actually save your preferences. It installed the AI update and wants to install it again. I hate everything.

Absolutely incredible website. I lost my mind when Half-Life finished installing and actually ran. Half-Life! In my browser!! This is so beautiful; the hours and dedication put in to programming this really show. Thank you for it. I saw you shared an 88x31 button in a reply below that I would love to add to my own site's "cool websites" page in a near-future update.

That makes me incredibly happy to hear, and honestly one of the biggest reasons why it was added in the first place! Little known trivia, the WASM emulation from that Half-Life implementation was so volatile and would always crash when the user closed it, so I just added a BSOD to cover it up. A fake crash covering a real crash :D
