but it's also bad to neglect my site and I'm not trying to. definitely want to rework a few pages to look cleaner and better though and make more shrines. we'll see what's good in a month or two

REALLY hoping this opens up more opportunities for opening up the first 3 worlds or even first 5 considering there's like 17 main worlds and like 4 side worlds so far

They really should make the first 3 or 5 free so people can better experience the game first and then decide if they want to buy membership for the rest.

@traversetown I heavily agree, especially since the next update features a 2nd world rework they should make ATLEAST the first two worlds free. But it's a start and I think this will lead into faster openings

Nekoweb is obviously the alternative and I already have a site up (slaid.nekoweb.org), but the social aspect of Neocities was a big draw and excitement to me. Maybe Nekoweb will add more social things, maybe not, but idk. I'll stay here on the meantime unless things get worse

AI obviously has been with us for decades by now and has proven worth too - hard to deny the medical advancements AI has caused, especially when my father was able to be saved from prostate cancer due to medical advancements related to it - but it's just a shame that someone with enough creativity and thought behind this site would also implore genAI as a good way to make art, much less be a way to replace creativity

TL;DR the person behind Neocities had a post surface from end of 2023(?) that was basically him defending genAI. Talked about how it "exponentially increased creativity" and "made beautiful art" and unfortunately it's not something I agree with. https://kyledrake.com/writings/ai

i honestly doubt there's gonna be ai on here at any point in time. though if you want data scrapers off your neocities site you can make a robots.txt file, i found it out from here https://neocities.org/site/shinyexe?event_id=4237442

it's easier than it may look! just make a new file called "robots.txt" at the base of your site and copy the text into the file

i agree with everything you've said, using ai for art isn't cool but for medical purposes and to actually help people is an amazing advancement in technology. i do like the social element that neocities has as opposed to nekoweb so i think i will be staying here too

I agree completely with what you're saying. It's quite the situation going on now, but I am going to stay on Neocities since I really enjoy it here. I'm not moving unless all hell breaks loose and this place isn't enjoyable anymore.

from what I hear some gamefreak employee got his email phished by a scam
