i walked into the tail end of some kind of traffic stop earlier and the poor guy was so upset, like panic attack levels of upset, from it. he didn't seem to understand why the cop had pulled him over. fortunately people were watching/recording. anyway ACAB

my current plan is to just go with cash and prepaid cards. i guess i'll still hold on to my paypal account too. not wild about cryptocurrency due to environmental concerns but not opposed to it especially if there are any that aren't ecologically disasterous

has anyone noticed that sometimes, when using the neocities editor, that it'll roll back to a previous version sometimes, even if you've saved? i'm not crazy am i lmao

Microsoft Edge does that. Changes on the CSS page are usually the problem. I don't think it's anything to do with neocities - it's more likely a bug in the browser you're using. If you check back later, the updates are there.

i'm using firefox. i did just install an update for it though so i'll see if that fixes the issue.

go here: https://www.phoenix.wildman-productions.org/ its a bit of a Process. after you make an account, you download the version of AIM you want to use (i'm doing 5.0) plus AIM Tamer. you need to run both because AIM will freeze your computer as-is, even if you use compatibility mode. after installing you change the host address in setup to w/e the url is in the FAQ page and you should be able to log in

i'm not sure how to relay this info otherwise, but specifically your background images never seem to load for me, both on your old site and this updated one... i inspected the source code to see if i could figure out what it was and suspect it may be the ful url used for the bg image; it can be shortened to "/img/spacebg.gif" and should still work. though it's fine if you'd rather not change anything about it too --

-- i'm not sure why this would matter at all, especially since i can "view background image" from a right click and it shows up fine. might be a firefox quirk; i'm really just not sure.

the problem with all your hand-written webpages having your site navigation is that, inevitably, the time will come when you realize you want to redo it, and you have a ton of pages to change as a result

i hadn't considered javascript, mostly because i haven't really learned how to use it lol. its definitely on the to-do list though

True, this. There was a php solution where you only needed to edit one file with the links on, but as neocities doesn't allow it, it can't be done here. Never got the handle on frames (which isn't a good solution anyway.) What I do is make a page which as all the current links and copy and paste it on to all the others.

javascript is unfortunately how i have to do my own layout, since the modern web is still a goddamn hellhole that doesn't have a simple native html injection thing.... https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_html_include.asp is nice and very similar to what i'm using, if that helps to know

alternately, just have one main navigation page, and every page links back to navigation. There's no rule saying you have to see every link from every page either

my old monitor crapped out last year. my friend gave me an old one he was getting rid of. the second i connect it to my pc it BSODs. i try to fix it and end up making it worse. thanks to our stimmy i FINALLY managed to get a replacement laptop. so how's everyone doing here?
