Imgbox is down and now several pages of our site look naked ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Is it time to host everything directly on Neocities now? We're afraid of not having enough space with our free plan. But maybe our worries are for naught.

About your blog post on stealing the entire code and you mentioning not understanding the reason. I was talking to a friend some time ago about something similar. I think the phenomenon comes from low tolerance to being mediocre. People come to neocities, they know nothing, they see some awesome designs, they can't deal with arriving somewhere and being "the only" mediocre person there. They want to be awesome (cont)

... without putting the time and effort for that. What matters is not learning and gradually developing a hobby or skill. No, what matters for them is appearing to be awesome from the get go. I think social media aggravated that feeling of having to appear amazing, and being ashamed of being mediocre or starting out.

i mean yes, i know where it comes from and i agree with you but its still sad. i think stealing code, especially on community like this, is just pointless. i have nothing against people who use ready-to-use code, changes texts and images etc as example, they still express themselves. but just blatantly stealing code won't get them anywhere here. hard to believe they get any accomplishment out of doing so.

> what matters for them is appearing to be awesome from the get go also true. like my site as example. the whole colors, layout were fast to make, FOR ME, because i bring some experience from the last ~20 years with me (god i am so old <.<). sure, i still add things every few days or so to it, but because it is fun and i am still learning new stuff! ...they don't learn shit.

Phew! Moved all our images from imgbox to here-- which is kind of hard when we can't access imgbox, but oh well! This means that one of the blog posts ("Why Eldritch is Silly") won't have its main image for a while because we've lost that one and we're too tired to remake it 😪😪 The css may take a while to get reloaded AGAIN, so our quiz results will be broken, but it should be all good in a couple of days.
We resized and compressed all the images because we panic about our storage too much (we plan to use lots of images), but now we mourn the quality loss a little. Some of them look too blurry to our tastes. But maybe it's actually fine because of how small they are?
