I remember sending Neocities an e-mail earlier this year because whenever I upload via WebDAV, I get errors for uploading certain things even though they show up fine on the 'site........... it's weird
But they haven't gotten back to me? .......Guess I'll try sending them mail again, but I did give them the right address................ Maybe it's one of those times I get the email address wrong for zero reason

Really thinking of making an online HTML day get-together, planning on it for either August 7th or the 8th
I could be on either days, 10:30 AM — 3:00 PM or 6:30 PM — 9:00 PM (MDT)...... though that might depend

Imagine jumping into your computer screen to eat fake food because you're hungry and you ran out of food in your fridge *somehow*, and then you jump out later on and........ suddenly you're immediately hungry or see "You Died" in your vision

I'm thinking of having a call on a place like Discord, or either Fluxer http://fluxer.app (which is similar) of where we all could talk together, show what we're coding or even drawing! I'd like to get to know people on here more, I just think having something like this would help us express ourselves...... I think it'd be a cool creative, safe space?

I'm still trying to figure it out, I'd want an event like this to be accessible to anyone and not be behind a place where you would *have* to create an account....... I hate paywalls You don't have to use voice chat either, talk in any way you're comfortable with!

Still considering if I'm even going to do it. I am studying this month, the start at least....... so I'm caught up in doing things and haven't been on here much...... I want that to change. But I at least want to make a day for this, this is something I care about!

I was looking myself and haven't seen anything near me this year either unfortunately... I know the idea is "if you want smth in your area you should organize it!" esp when it's smth small like just coding together in a library or park, but I would worry if anyone would bother showing up in my area, haha;; but organizing one yourself sounds like a great idea! :D

I'm going with Jitsi for this one! It's got screen sharing and not only voice call, but a text chat, and polls...... don't know if I'd use that, but it's got the most things. Thanks for telling me about it you guys!

I'm glad! I want to encourage anyone to write about websites they like, whether it's old or new. I started writing about old websites I have a special feeling towards, but it's evolving into the idea of writing about things people talk about on their websites; their blogs, etc, someone's website layout and how it looks, or what I like about someone's website

I really feel as if you make a personal connection to someone's website when you write about them, compared to leaving a like or a small comment that the social media world gives you. And that can be good, don't get me wrong. But the person you write about might feel acknowledged; I feel when you write about them, you can encourage them to keep doing what they love. That's one of the best things you could ever do. —

— Not only you would motivate them, but you would encourage others to check out their website too! I could be wrong, but I've never seen people do this sort of thing...... from what I've seen. But if it's something you want to do too, go ahead! Thinking about that makes me excited to see what people write about

Was replying to @lemerks about this...... until I figure out a good place on my 'site to put this, I want to share it here! If you want to write one of these things: — (they call them "em dashes"), I've got a script on my computer that does this! I use a program for Windows called "AutoHotkey", if I press and hold down [ALT + -] (the regular en dash you're used to) at the same time, it'll make one of — these guys!

@goopatheguick I've taken the tutorial before when I first started and it really just went over some basic concepts of HTML...... and that was okay! 'Specially because it was at that time where I didn't know absolutely ANYTHING about HTML.................... which still surprises me of how long it's been But I bet I'd recommend it to anyone now who wants to make a 'site -

@lemerks I've been on here for two years at this point (still surprised) and I did see the comic tutorial when I was on here before the whole dark mode and search engine update, there's times I would just look back at it for fun, it was just on that same page. It actually used to be: https://neocities.org/tutorial but they added an 's' to the URL!
Want to ask you this because you really have been here and on the web for an extremely long time:
How was RealPlayer for you? It was one of the ways people could have shared videos online back in those times....... compared to putting a whole video file on a web page nowadays which I'm so happy that we can even do now! But we all didn't have the speeds we have now in those times, so people had to stream them....... -

I've been thinking of making part of my 'site or a seperate one that uses a table layout and older things for fun, I was thinking of putting Real Media files on there. Definitely wouldn't use 'em on my main 'site and *mainly* use RealPlayer.... no. Been wondering what people's experiences were with it long ago and thought: why not ask you?

In those times, due to where I lived, internet was slow and expensive. Another factor was that I was poor, and computers were expensive back then, which meant all I had was a knock-off Pentium II clone that could barely play a GIF file. Mid-1998 the internet speed was 33,6kpbs here, so video sharing was deemed basically a non-starter.

Early in 2000 I was finishing my work-back period at the state owned telco. I used that last opportunity before I left, to download the Sonic OVA, it took an excruciating 14 hours overnight to pull down a 266Mbyte 640x480 video compressed with MPEG-4, and when I got it my computer didn't have the grunt to play it. During 2003-2004 we got our anime, movies everything from LANs and/or anime screening weekends

In 2005 broadband internet arrived, albeit <1MBps... and with ridiculous data caps of 3GBytes. But there were ways and means to bypass it, and that we did... And then came YouTube.. 2008 was when I got into it really

And now we have 400/400Mbps optical fiber into my home... but I don't take it for granted because I remember the times when my lousy, slow, internet connection COST MORE than this state-of-the-art

@sonic2k Thank you so much for telling me about this! I've always heard and known about clones of electronics but I haven't even heard of clones of CPUs before? I guess you could only load web pages with text & images to a point..... and there was the option to disable images and scripts built into browsers or separate extensions

I bet that felt really good to be able to download the whole Sonic OVA at your workplace at the time, or if I'm misconceptioning; they provided you internet at home. But sad that you didn't have enough computer power to play it :( Anyone can overlook at how MPEG-4 can run fine and play on any computer nowadays, but codecs are powerful, complicated things

Were the data caps from the ISP? Wondering how that worked..... that's great you were able to get past it And nowadays with fiber internet, we people get frustrated and spoiled when we're downloading from a slow server!

I think the EXE is cuz when compiling you had to get the assets for srb2, and I was too lazy to git clone the repository that had the assets so I just downloaded the windows zip and put it on the srb2 folder

@lemerks Oh okay! The first time I was making myself first learn Linux, I was making myself install SRB2 from source as..... something to learn in my life; to know how to do. And yep, those assets are part of installing it all......... I be that way too, but why not use the fastest option if it works? Heck, I've got SRB2 downloaded already; why do I need to download the .pk3s and .wads again?

I don't want to be so negative, but because of my situation right now: there's times I really feel as if I'm not doing enough in my life..... and not enough of the things I really care about
I hope I can keep adding to this place, I don't want to give up at it. I'm trying my best to do this one day at a time....... I feel as if I *need to "finish the 'site" to do certain things and I hold myself back on those things

Don't worry dude don't be sad for these things,just take the time for finishing your stuffs ;) I, too, don't really keep up with the news sometimes, you know ;) But what makes these sites on Neocities so incredible is that we took our time creating them... WITH PASSION ! So,please,don't worry for that.

- It doesn't mean I can't improve it later. I'm inspired by pretty much everyone and everyone I know at least on here, I do feel sad at times when I see where someone else is with their website and that I'm not finished with what I'm making But I need to forgive myself, going to take a break and take my time with what I want to do
