for your theming stuff, there's a way to hide divs untill they're selected (using pure CSS)! I have some code I used for "pages" on my redesign #1½ which would probably be easy to modify for the given use case, i could upload it to a pastebin tmr if it interests you!:P

Regarding your comment I accidentally deleted, my font used to be a standard Courier font stack (Courier New, or Courier, or fallback to generic monospace), but I made the jump to a "web font" with an updated version, Courier Prime as you noted. It's cleaner, modernized and in TrueType format.

"Conformity to W3C versions and specs thereof are a waste of time after '97" My primary concern is extensive backwards compatibility, not standards. If those elements had been in HTML 4 it's (barely) more likely that my target browsers would support them. Since they don't, I can't use them.

Yes. Basically, I target IE4 and Netscape 4 as a conscious design choice and constraint. Standards never mattered as much as "what browsers can actually do". This was true during the browser wars, it was true during the IE6 dark ages, and it's true now (the html living standard = what chrome does)

FMP: enormously, exhaustively reworked index now incorporates (mostly new, large) pop-up screenshots. To my gratified surprise, they load as well and quickly on this mirror as on .info!
